My book – East Africa, a journey through Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda

“Excellent work, keep on doing what you’re doing”
MICHAEL PALIN
For a time I worked as a tour leader in East Africa for an adventure travel company, and was lucky enough to lead tours into some of the most amazing places I have ever seen. Most of my time was spent in Tanzania, with the odd tour in Kenya and trekking to see the Mountain Gorillas in Uganda.
It took a bit of time, and with the help from the amazing writer Charlotte Durham who joined me for some time in Tanzania, my first self published book is out and ready to buy. Below is just a snippet of the introduction and a preview of some pages,
enjoy…
Introduction
Africa takes you on a journey of emotions, challenges, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and perfect photographic opportunities.
You first perceive Africa’s sheer scale when you fly over it, timing how long it takes to pass over the great expanse of the Sahara desert, especially when you get a glimpse of a solitary twinkling light on the ground and try to comprehend what or who it could possibly be.
This book focuses on Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, which together form part of East Africa. Each is a country of extremes. On the one hand you have outstanding natural beauty, traditional cultures and fascinating wildlife, on the other, poverty and evidence of a turbulent past, from prehistoric times to the present day.
The many orphanages in Tanzania, drought in Kenya and massive deforestation in Uganda all show how challenging life can be here for both the people and the wildlife…………………..
