Photo shoot with Richard Daniels – professional singer

This was one of those shoots you really look forward to.

I’d met professional swing singer Richard Daniels at a networking event a little while back, where we’d got to talking about some promotional images he wanted for his marketing materials. We discussed the possibilities of doing a shoot either in the studio or out on location, which Richard preferred in order to capture him doing what he does best. This weekend he was performing at a wedding in Burnsall, which is a beautiful location enabling us to do some outdoor portrait shots plus a few performance ones indoors.

I arrived at the venue while Richard was performing the first half of his set, and my goodness he can sing! (if your looking for a singer for your event or wedding, check him out!) –  Once he had finished we made our way down to the bridge, which is a fantastic backdrop and set about taking a few images. In addition to colour portraits we had a bit of fun and Richard sang into the microphone with a cloudy backdrop. These were then converted to black and white, which made for some great images.

We then went back to the venue to take a few performance images. This proved quite difficult as it had turned quite dark and I didn’t want to use flash in case it compromised the mood of the performance. I was able to achieve the right amount of subtle lighting from a single halogen light on the ceiling,  – giving us a terrific set of striking black and white images.
